Dr. Jason Fort - Dr. Fort grew up just north of Clarksville, TN across the state line in Trenton, KY. Trenton has a quaint population of about 400. When people ask where he is from he explains how the entire county had only one true stoplight and no Wal-Mart. He worked for a nearby farmer during the summers of high
school and between college semesters. He has a passion for the outdoors and enjoys most any sporting activity. Baseball was his focus in high school, but he also played golf.
After high school, Dr. Fort attended a community college in Hopkinsville, KY. After receiving his associate’s degree, he transferred to Western Kentucky University where he majored in biology with a chemistry and biophysics minor. In 2015, he received a Bachelor of Science degree, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from WKU. During his time at WKU he was involved in starting the Pre-Optometry Club, and served as an officer in its first year. During his summers, Dr. Fort was able to serve on two mission trips to Nicaragua and worked with a local optometrist fitting glasses to those with vision needs.
After college Dr. Fort was accepted into the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry. He graduated optometry school in May of 2019 and was a member of the Golden Key Honor Society all four years. While in school he was elected to serve as UAB’s President of the American Student Optometric Association. At UAB he completed internships in ocular disease, pediatrics, contact lens, vision therapy, and primary care. He also completed externships at the Birmingham Alabama Veterans Affairs Medical Center and The Eye Care Center of Richmond, Kentucky. While in optometry school Dr. Fort volunteered for two Rural Area Medical trips in East Tennessee, providing eye care to those in need.
